Your student showed you an app, and you'd like to know what it actually does before anything gets approved. Fair. This page is the plain-language version — what Kaddy is, what its AI will and won't do, what data we collect, and how the social parts are kept safe. The legal versions are linked at the bottom.

What Kaddy is

Kaddy is a study planner for high schoolers: it tracks classes, assignments, and due dates in one place, sends reminders at the hour your student actually studies, and includes AI-powered study help — a tutor chat, flashcards, and practice quizzes built from their own notes. Streaks and points reward showing up daily. Kaddy requires users to be 13 or older.

The AI explains — it doesn't do the work

Kaddy's tutor is instructed to teach, not to substitute: it walks through the setup of a problem, explains a concept a different way, and asks the next question back — rather than handing over a finished answer or writing the essay. It gives feedback on your student's own draft instead of producing one, and every reply is tuned for a school-age audience. Our terms are explicit that Kaddy is a study aid, not a way around academic-integrity rules.

What we collect, and why

Account basics — a username, an email address, and a birthdate (to enforce the 13+ requirement).
What your student enters — their classes, assignments, notes, grades if they choose to track them, and their questions to the tutor. This is the product working, not profiling.
School and teacher names — so classmates with the same teacher can find each other and share study material.

We don't run ads and we don't sell personal data. The full detail — retention, third-party processors, deletion — is in the privacy policy. Your student can download a copy of their data or delete their account, permanently, from Settings at any time.

Messaging and the community

Direct messages only work between accepted friends — strangers can't message your student. The Commons (where students review teachers and share class notes) is moderated: posts can be reported, moderators review reports, and blocking someone cuts contact in both directions. The rules and enforcement process are public in the moderation policy.

The weekly progress email

Your student can choose to send you a short weekly summary — assignments finished, days studied, how grades are trending. Two things to know about how it's designed: the choice sits with the student (it's consent, not surveillance), and it shares progress, never content — no chats, no messages, no notes ever leave the app. Ask your student to turn it on in Settings → Notifications.

Paying for it

The free plan is genuinely usable — a real course load, reminders, flashcards, quizzes, and the streak game, forever. Paid plans mainly raise the AI tutor's weekly allowance and remove class caps. Prices live in the app, plans can be switched or cancelled anytime, and there are no ads on any tier.
