How this is calculated
Your overall grade is a weighted average of your current grade and your final
exam score: overall = current × (1 − weight) + final × weight.
Solving that for the final score you need gives:
needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) / weight. If the number
comes back above 100%, no realistic score on the final gets you there — the
calculator will tell you the highest overall grade a perfect 100% final would
still get you instead.
A note on accuracy
This assumes your "current grade" already reflects everything except the final (the most common setup). If your teacher's gradebook works differently — category weights instead of one running average, extra credit, a curve — treat this as a solid estimate and double check against your teacher's actual gradebook before you make a decision based on it.
